Voces Lojanas

Michelle, hace algunos meses estuvo por la region sur del Ecuador, Loja, Zamora y El Oro y escribió un listado largo de posts y buenos comentarios respecto del Ecuador, impresionándole sobre manera la deforestación que existe en el Ecuador. En uno de sus post reclama el sobreprecio que algunos servicios y bienes tienen en la ciudad de Loja:

I moved into a luxury hotel today called Quo Vadis. It costs $29 per night plus 15% tax. It came with a nice basket of stuff like shampoo, conditioner, comb, toothbrush. However, the laundry was outrageously expensive. Here is an example of the laundry list. The prices below are for washing in water (NOT dry-cleaning) and drying, and do not include ironing, which is an additional $1.50 per item:

* big towel: $4
* one pair of panties: $2
* one pair of socks: $2
* 1 pant: $4
* blouse: $3
* shirt: $3.50
* undershirt: $2.50

Daniel estuvo por Loja hace algún tiempo y despues de relatar el susto despues de haber sido aslatado en Perú en camino a Ecuador dice que Loja es lindo pero pequenito en el sur del Ecuador :

Lojanos love their plazas, their colonial architecture, and statues of various heroes. Simon Bolivar must have a hundred statues, busts, and murals all over town.

SA , tambien estuvo de paso por Loja y Vilcabamba, dice no le gustaría quedarde a vivir en esta pequenia ciudad con buen clima y sin mosquitos. Cree que Loja no tiene mucho de interés para los turistas, pongan atención amigos encargados del asunto:

Loja is the capital of a canton and, as such, is quite business-like. There are a number of places to stay, and a variety of restaurants but not too much of interest for tourists. We did get our clothes washed, however … $5.00 and 2 hours!

Mitch fue seducido por una aleman y una australiana de cambiar su ruta de viaje y terminar visitando Vilcabamba. A parte del magnífico escenario verde que cautivó a Mitch, tambié está el disenio de la baniera en una hostal en Vilcabamba, dice:

…The walls are made of big stones, and even the shower (with a big rainshower head) is built into a stone alcove. If I ever end up building that dream house, I’m stealing this bathroom design. And building a patio with hammocks. I hadn’t been in a hammock since I was a little kid until this morning after a nice buffet breakfast, when we went out back to check out the digs and swing a little in the breeze, watching butterflies flutter between the millions of leaves of trees. The valley views from the outdoor dining area are gorgeous, looking over the town itself, and there are flowers galore in the entry….[y hasta] se vende leche de chivas.
